I was a bit apprehensive about the negative reviews for Gotty Opera, but we couldn't have been happier! The hotel was a bit old, but very quaint. Every electrical item in the room worked well, as did all the plumbing. The staff was phenomenal to us, and always helpful - especially the older gentleman (although I regrettably did not catch his name). Our daughter got sick on the first night and he was empathetic and kind. He directed me to the closest pharmacy and then even translated the medical instructions for me! They sent up extra towels and sheets when we asked and even allowed us to take breakfast to our room so we could stay with our daughter.
In addition, the location is perfect and the price was good! We were between the Cadet and Grands Boulevards Metro stops and had tons of eating (Hard Rock and Starbucks!) and shopping choices nearby, as well as the post office and a few convenience stores.
We had a lovely stay at Hotel Gotty Opera - I believe the people who wrote the previous reviews have either never stayed in a European hotel before or are spoiled by American Hotels. Definitely a hotel to take your kids and feel safe!
